This is a tutorial of how to make a background similar to the one used in
First make a canvas that's bigger than the canvas you need the background for. I used a canvas size 1455x1025 for my piece with the size 1024x768.
Use the rectangle tool to make some vertical rectangulars. I used three.
Select the colored area
Go to Edit --> Define pattern --> give it a name
Unselect the area and make a new layer. Go to Edit --> Fill --> Choose Pattern in the use box --> Find the pattern you just made --> Press OK.
Your canvas shold look like this
Go to Filter --> Distort --> Polar Coordinates --> Select Rectangular to Polar --> Press OK.
Your canvas should now look like this
Go to Filter --> Distort --> Twirl --> Play around with the angle to twirl it to your liking --> Press OK.
Your canvas should now look something like this:
All done. Now you can used it in your piece.
